The mission of Wingman for Dance is to inspire dancers, regardless of age, level or skill to become helpful heroes that go above and beyond for each other. Wingman boosts children’s confidence and recognizes their unique strengths . Wingman helps create an atmosphere of connection and belonging.

We are excited at AADBK to add this program to our studio philosophy. Throughout the year a new set of monthly activities will be incorporated into our dance classes. These activities will inspire and promote empathy, compassion, kindness and acceptance of all students. We encourage parents to ask their dancer’s about the activities they are taking part in during class!

Wingman Core Values

Wingman for Dance is a project  evolving from Dylan’s Wings of Change, a foundation dedicated to the memory of Dylan Hockley, one of the first grade victims of the Sandy Hook School shootings on December 14, 2014.  Dylan had autism, and was able to navigate the world and enjoy life so much more when those around him would step up and be his Wingman.  Dylan’s dad Ian wanted to honor his son with a program that would teach youth to inspire inclusion for all, not just those with special needs.

(“wingman” ~ definition:   someone who helps, protects, or guides a friend or others)

Just as the schools have classroom curriculum for each grade level, we at All About Dance! have a set syllabus that is followed in each of our classrooms.

With over 100 years combined teaching experience, our instructing staff has crafted a set of syllabi for our core classes of acro-gymnastics, jazz, tap, and ballet.

Each student will be held accountable for the completion of each syllabi level before advancing to the next level.

When a student reaches Level III within our divisions of beginner-junior-intermediate-advanced, they will be evaluated by a senior instructor during class time to make sure all skills for that level have been mastered. These skills are then noted in our studio computers and used for determining the next years’ class placement. So, be assured there is a method behind our madness!

As always, if you have questions or concerns, please leave a message for the instructor at our courtesy desk, or email the specific instructor using their AADBK email.
