Miss Gwen is excited and thrilled for her eighth year as being an instructing assistant at All About Dance by Kristin!
Miss Gwen started dancing at the age of three. She took dance at Franklin School of Dance in Kent, Ohio for thirteen years. Miss Gwen took jazz, tap, gymnastics, and beginner ballet classes. She was a student and classmate of Miss Kristin Messner for some of these years at this studio. Next, she became an instructor at Karen’s Dance Academy in Mantua, Ohio for nine years. There she taught jazz, tap, gymnastics and beginner baton. For two of the years during this time, she also assisted in instructing a large group pom-pom dance competition team. Along with teaching dance at Karen’s Dance Academy, while attending college, Miss Gwen choreographed a large group performance for a Greek Campus Life Songfest event at Kent State. She did this for three consecutive years and each performance earned a first or second place award each year.
Miss Gwen loves to dance, but tap has always been her favorite style to learn and teach! Miss Gwen graduated from Stow High School and then Kent State University two times. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and then a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Specialization in Reading. She currently is a 2nd grade teacher at Walls Elementary School in Kent, Ohio. She has been teaching in the Kent City School system for eighteen years.
Miss Gwen lives in Tallmadge with her husband Shawn, their two children Olivia (age twelve) and Gabe (age ten), and their family pets Kip, Max & Jax. Much of her free time is spent with her family that keeps her very busy. Olivia has been dancing since age 3 and is an active member of the AADbK competition teams. Gabe plays football, basketball, and baseball and is apart of several traveling teams. Miss Gwen also enjoys shopping, traveling, exercising, gardening, and spending time with her friends. She is very excited about having the opportunity to still have dance be apart of her life and to be able to share her love for dance with children through being an instructing assistant at AADbK!
