Students enrolled in kinder-classes perform one time in the annual recital. All other students perform one time in each of the styles of dance in which they are enrolled. A big part of dance training includes learning through performance. Although performance opportunities help prepare some students for a possible career in dance, performance opportunies also contribute to children’s success in non-dance activities. This experience will build self-esteem and confidence, which can result in improved social skills and strong college and job interview skills. Attending rehearsals will benefit your child as well. The rehearsal process helps the children develop retention skills, and by working with their classmates on a group performance, they learn the positive aspects of teamwork.

Recital time is a fun and exciting event that our students look forward to each year. There is much to do and accomplish for students, teachers, and office staff alike. For parents, it is not only a financial commitment, but a time commitment as well. Spring is a busy time for all and brings new obligations, so please be sure of all dates and events and mark your calendars in advance. Other important recital dates are listed below.

Additional rehearsals may be scheduled for students at the discretion of the teacher/choreographer. Parents and students will be notified of additional rehearsals at least two weeks in advance. Some classes may be combined or have extra rehearsals for staging and choreographic purposes while aiding the student to know exactly where to go and who they stand next to as well as extra practice to become comfortable with their routine. You are not charged for these extra classes.

All students participate in our annual recital to be held at Cuyahoga Falls High School. Please note that all students must participate in the dress rehearsal in order to perform in the recital. There are no exceptions to this policy. All students who participate in the recital are required to perform both nights.

Non-participants will need to inform the office in writing BY NOVEMBER 1st that they will not be participating in the recital so they will not be included in any choreography and formations and so a costume is not ordered.

Costumes

The All About Dance Staff spends many hours determining the correct costumes for each class. Costumes are always age appropriate. Kinder-class students will need one costume; all other students will need one costume for each dance style they are enrolled in. Costumes include all accessories (hats, gloves, tights, etc.), but do not include shoes. Props can be extra small fee.

In an effort to ensure that costumes are delivered in time for recital photos, costume orders are placed during the December holiday break. Costume manufacturers do not accept cancellations or offer refunds; therefore the school does not refund costume deposits.

All About Dance by Kristen creates an original recital production performed by students. Costumes are a necessary part of that show. A $75.00 costume deposit per class per child is due by November 14th. For your concenience, the costume deposit may be divided into monthly payments beginning in September. You are welcome to pay more than the minimal deposit if that works better for your financial planning. Late fee for costumes deposits:

Beginning November 21, a late fee of $3.00 per costume deposit less than the minimum $75.00 will be automatically applied. Anyone wishing to join the recital after costumes have been ordered in December, will be subject to a $20.00 late ordering fee per costume.
If the total cost of the costume exceeds $75.00, the balance is due prior to receiving your costume.
If the total cost of the costume is less than $75.00, the difference will be credited to your next month’s tuition.
Parents or guardians accept full responsibility for all expenses, including surcharges and postage for costumes that are ordered late. All About Dance! by Kristen is not responsible if costumes are not received in time for the recital due to late payments. Costume payments are the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian.

Recital Photos

Recital

Class photos are tentatively set for Sunday, April 23, 2017 at All About Dance! by Kristen. Dates and times are subject to change. Please confirm your child’s time on the updated schedule to be distributed a couple weeks prior to photos.

After the group photo, students may choose to have solo portraits made in any or all of their costumes. There is no obligation to purchase photos. Please arrive at least half an hour before your child’s scheduled time since photos tend to run ahead of schedule.

Lange Photographics will be taking our recital photos at All About Dance!. Photos will be set up according to classes in order to take the entire group photo as well as individual shots. Time slots for individual photos will be available prior to the class photo. Even though you may not be interested in purchasing any packages, we ask that each student attend their group photo for our studio records. Remember all photos can be used in your “Dancer Ad/Congrats” space in our recital Souvenir Program.
